P2632 Fuel pump: open circuit ("B")
P2632 means: Fuel pump: open circuit ("B"). The fuel pump delivers fuel from the tank to the engine. Don't drive until the car has been checked. The engine could be damaged. The most common repair costs about €45–90 in Estonia, depending on make and model.
What it means
The fuel pump delivers fuel from the tank to the engine. The computer found a fault in the pump supply or control. The computer sees no current in the circuit, so something is open: a wire, a connector or the part's winding.
What you may notice
- No start or hard starting
- The engine cuts out while driving
- Less power
What could be wrong
- 1Connector loose, damp or corroded · Wiring or connector repair €45–90
- 2Wire broken or chafed · Wiring or connector repair €45–90
- 3Faulty fuel pump · Fuel pump replacement €250–500
- 4Engine computer fault (rare) · Control unit check and software €150–300
Repair difficulty: Moderate
What you can check yourself
First look at the connector and wiring: anything loose, melted or green with corrosion? Switch the ignition on and listen for the pump humming from the tank for a couple of seconds. Check the fuse. Best left to a workshop. It needs a diagnostic tool and experience.
How we fix it
- We read the fault data on the diagnostic tool and check whether the fault is constant
- We measure the circuit's supply, ground and signal
- We repair the wire or replace the connector
- If the wiring is fine, we replace the fuel pump
