P0299 Turbo boost pressure too low
P0299 means: Turbo boost pressure too low. The turbo isn't producing as much boost as the engine computer wants. Drive gently and have the car checked soon. The repair usually costs about €80–1800 in Estonia. The most common cause: leaking turbo hose or intercooler. Other possible causes: turbo actuator (VNT or wastegate) is sticking, control solenoid or vacuum hose.
What it means
The turbo isn't producing as much boost as the engine computer wants. The engine lacks power and the car often goes into limp mode. On diesels a leaking turbo hose or a sticking turbo actuator is often to blame.
What could be wrong
- 1Leaking turbo hose or intercooler
- 2Turbo actuator (VNT or wastegate) is sticking
- 3Control solenoid or vacuum hose
- 4Turbo is worn
What you can check yourself
Check the turbo hoses and intercooler. An oily hose or loose clamp is a common cause. Best left to a workshop. It needs a diagnostic tool and experience.
How we fix it
- We pressure-test for leaks
- We check the actuator and solenoid
- We replace the hose or repair the turbo
